Comparison
NimbusWatch vs AWS Cost Explorer
Cost Explorer shows you the total. NimbusWatch tells you the one thing to delete to shrink it (Pro and up). They’re not really rivals; they answer different questions.
| NimbusWatch | AWS Cost Explorer | |
|---|---|---|
| What it answers | Which resource is wasting money, and the one fix (Pro and up) | How much the account spent, in aggregate |
| Output | A finding like “unused NAT gateway, ~$32/mo: delete it” (Pro and up) | A chart and a total, e.g. “$312.44 this month” |
| Tells you what to do | Yes, in plain English (Pro and up) | No, you dig out the culprit yourself |
| Also does | Uptime and latency, plus budget alerts and a read-only security scan (Starter and up) | Budget alerts via AWS Budgets |
| Cost | From $9/month | Free to view in the console; its API is billed per request |
Cost Explorer’s pricing above was read from AWS’s own pricing page on 9 October 2026.
Who should not buy NimbusWatch
If all you need is a monthly total and you already know how to trace a spike to its resource in the AWS console, Cost Explorer’s console view is free and does that. NimbusWatch earns its keep when you don’t want to do that tracing yourself: when you want the specific resource, the monthly dollar figure, and the fix handed to you (Pro and up).
The short version
Cost Explorer’s console view shows the bill for free. NimbusWatch is the plain-English answer to “okay, so what do I actually delete?” (Pro and up), and it keeps watching security (Starter and up), uptime and latency at the same time.
